BJCP Entrance Exam Mock Practice Test

Welcome to the BJCP Entrance Exam Mock Practice Test presented to you by the good fellas at BeerSyndicate.com.

The BJCP Entrance Exam Mock Practice Test is designed to better prepare you for the online BJCP Entrance Exam and to provide practical training using the Beer Style Compare-O-Matic, which is simply the most effective free resource for the actual exam.

Both the difficulty of the questions and time limit on this practice test are very similar to the actual online BJCP Entrance Exam.  However, the focus of this practice test is strictly related to knowledge of the 2015 BJCP Beer Style Guidelines, an area that makes up approximately 50-60% (or more) of the actual Entrance Exam.

Just like on the actual online BJCP Entrance Exam, the questions on this practice test are either true-false, multiple-choice, or multiple-choice/multiple-answer.

If you have not done so already, please review the How to Pass the Online BJCP Entrance Exam Tutorial to familiarize yourself with what you need to know to be successful on the exam over all.

Good luck.

80-100%: Nice job!  You know your way around the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines pretty darn well which will benefit you greatly on the online BJCP Entrance Exam.

60-79%: Relax, you passed, but it’s probably not a bad idea to take this practice test again. Either way, read the tutorial on How to Pass the Online BJCP Entrance Exam Tutorial, and carefully read the 2015 BJCP Study Guide, and you’ll be in pretty good shape for the online BJCP Entrance Exam.  Last but not least, make sure you’re comfortable with using the Beer Style Compare-O-Matic in order to quickly and easily look up and compare different beer styles from the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines.

0-59%: Look, this practice quiz isn’t easy.  Nevertheless, we recommend all of the following before you take on the online BJCP Entrance Exam:

    1. Consider getting more comfortable using the Beer Style Compare-O-Matic to check your answers (sanity check).
    2. Take this practice test again until you achieve a score of 60% or better.
    3. Pace yourself appropriately.  This practice test has 30 questions to be answered in 10 minutes, that means you should have answered about 15 questions by the 5 minute mark.
    4. Allocate your time wisely.  If you find yourself spending a lot of time on the multiple-choice/multiple answer questions, stop it.  Remember, a ‘true-or-false’ question is worth the same amount of points as the more difficult question types, and you have better odds of taking an educated guess on true-or-false question types.  In other words, if you had to choose between spending 30 seconds on a true-or-false question or 2 minutes on any other question, go with the true-or-false question.
