Me.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Or what if a <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.beeradvocate.com\/beer\/profile\/28018\/158196\/\" target=\"_blank\">brewer<\/a><\/span> resurrected the medieval German beer style known as\u00a0\u201cBroyhan\u201d?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.beersyndicate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Broyhan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1745\" title=\"Seeh\u00e4user Broyhan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.beersyndicate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Broyhan.jpg\" alt=\"Seeh\u00e4user Broyhan\" width=\"261\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beersyndicate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Broyhan.jpg 1114w, https:\/\/beersyndicate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Broyhan-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/beersyndicate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Broyhan-792x1024.jpg 792w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 261px) 100vw, 261px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">\u00a0[&#8220;Broyhan&#8221;, meaning &#8220;brother&#8221; in Old German, referred to monastic brothers who consumed the beer; the term serves as the etymological basis behind\u00a0the modern term &#8220;broham&#8221;, &#8220;brohem&#8221;, or Latin &#8220;brohamulus&#8221;, also meaning &#8220;brother&#8221;. Broyhan, the ultimate bro-beer.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Turns out\u00a0that\u00a0as of 2015, all of these things and more have already occurred. And although creative, really none of these events by themselves were\u00a0all too strange.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Here&#8217;s\u00a0the strange part:\u00a0 What if I told you all of those events were predicted long before they happened?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Sounds unlikely, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">At the beginning of 2014, <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.beersyndicate.com\/app\/\" target=\"_blank\">BeerSyndicate<\/a><\/span><\/strong> was given a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beersyndicate.com\/blog\/the-future-of-craft-beer\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">sophisticated software\u00a0program<\/span><\/a> from someone claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto (creator of bitcoin) who professed to be able to predict the future of craft beer. \u00a0Naturally we were skeptical, but posted the program to the web anyways and called it the \u201cCraft Beer Trend Predictor\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Lo and behold, it worked.\u00a0 Well, sort of.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">First of all, it\u2019s difficult to know whether or not breweries were aware of the program and created a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy situation. \u00a0Not to mention, the beers generated by the program are probably too specific to become a reality; however specific <em>elements<\/em> have been successfully predicted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">But the beauty of the program isn\u2019t whether or not it can predict the future.\u00a0 Sure, that would be a nifty novelty, but we found that the key behind it all\u00a0is in its ability to be used as an artistic tool to spark creative ideas for homebrewers and professionals alike, nudging along the next step in the evolution of beer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Think about it: in order to be called an innovator today, simply brewing\u00a0a Berliner Weisse, adding salt to the boil kettle or having a barrel-aged whatever on tap isn\u2019t going to cut it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Enter the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.beersyndicate.com\/app\/Tool\/BeerRecipes\"><strong>Beer Recipe Idea Generator<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">While satirically whimsical at times, the <strong><em>Beer Recipe Idea Generator<\/em> <\/strong>can produce approximately 2.34 trillion different combinations of a hypothetical beer.\u00a0 That\u2019s a lot of beer. \u00a0But it\u2019s not about quantity, it\u2019s about creativity and inspiration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Here are just a few curiosity inducing\u00a0musings we extrapolated from ideas all\u00a0found on the\u00a0<strong><em>Beer Recipe\u00a0<\/em><em>Idea Generator<\/em><\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>Interested in historical beers?<\/em> Why not try your hand at recreating a Belgian\u00a0<strong>Uitzet<\/strong> (pronounced: out-set), or a\u00a0<strong>Pennsylvania Swankey<\/strong>?\u00a0 Or how about doing your take on a native\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.beersyndicate.com\/blog\/native-beer-a-guide-to-indigenous-beer-around-the-world\/4\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Mbege<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, <strong>Cauim<\/strong>, or\u00a0<strong>Boza<\/strong> ale?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Sure, there\u2019s salt.\u00a0 And then there\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">salt<\/span>.\u00a0 How would <strong>Hawaiian Black Sea Salt<\/strong>, <strong>Sel Gris<\/strong>, or <strong>Fleur de Sel de Gu\u00e9rande<\/strong> change things up in your brew? [We found an impressive offering\u00a0of\u00a0specialty salts at\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.saltworks.us\/gourmet-sea-salt.asp\" target=\"_blank\">SaltWorks<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sfsalt.com\/bulk-gourmet-salt\" target=\"_blank\">San Francisco Salt Company<\/a><\/span>.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">We all know how vital the role of\u00a0yeast is in making beer, but how far can we push it?\u00a0 How about ex<em>BEER<\/em>imenting with new or mutated strains,\u00a0<strong>wine yeasts<\/strong>, <strong>Scottish whiskey yeast<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/thesalt\/2012\/08\/02\/157606554\/thank-the-simple-wasp-for-that-complex-glass-of-wine\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>hornet yeast<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zymase\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>zymase<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, or taking your beer to the final frontier with some yeast recovered from the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Living_Interplanetary_Flight_Experiment\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Fobos-Grunt spacecraft<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0and then dry hopping it with\u00a0Higgs boson particles for good measure (of course).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Speaking of yeast, what\u2019s the best type of beer to ferment to the\u00a0<em><strong>Midnight Marauders<\/strong><\/em><strong> album\u00a0<\/strong>from\u00a0<strong>A Tribe Called Quest<\/strong>? A <em>Jarobi White Ale<\/em> or <em>Phife Dawg Dunkelweizen<\/em>?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">And while aging a brew in Whiskey barrels is cool (<em>I guess<\/em>), I might throw down an extra buck or two for a barrel-aged RIS that did some time soaking up\u00a0a bit of the complex character of\u00a0a\u00a0<strong>Grand Marnier Quintessence<\/strong> or <strong>L&#8217;Art de Martell Cognac <\/strong>barrel; two of the most sought-after\u00a0(and costly) liquors on the planet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Yeah, Burtonized water is great and all, but imagine what you could do if you got your hands on some pure<strong> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.canadiangeographic.ca\/magazine\/jun11\/purest_drinking_water.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Elmvale well water<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0(alleged to be the purest water on Earth). \u00a0<strong>VEEN<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Tasmanian Rain<\/strong>\u00a0waters ain&#8217;t half bad either.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">On the business end, underdog breweries crowdfunded via\u00a0 <strong>Kickstarter<\/strong> or <strong>Indiegogo<\/strong> are yesterday\u2019s news. \u00a0Where\u2019s the <em>Wolf of Wall Street<\/em> brew house financed by <strong>shorting Equity Index Futures<\/strong> or <strong>Cross-Currency Swaps<\/strong>? \u00a0[Shot out to Kai Ryssdal.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>Too 1 percenter for you?<\/em>\u00a0 Then wouldn\u2019t we all feel good about a startup brewery funded\u00a0with a grant from the <strong>Alfred P. Sloan Foundation<\/strong> or even <strong>The Pew Charitable Trusts<\/strong>? [Shot out to Terry Gross, Steve Inskeep, and Ira Flatow.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Get the idea?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In sum,\u00a0it seems the future of beer will be found not just in the past, or science, or the culinary world, or business philosophies or\u00a0marketing strategies, but in the resulting creations culminating from the intersections of\u00a0all of these things and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">This is the art of brewing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">So if you&#8217;re looking for a little brewing inspiration, perhaps a glimpse into the future, or just a laugh, check out the&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff; font-size: 24pt;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.beersyndicate.com\/app\/Tool\/BeerRecipes\" target=\"_blank\">Beer Recipe Idea Generator<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Click.
